Difference between normal Ghee and Bilona Ghee

1. Method of Preparation

Normal Ghee

  • Usually made from cream/malai collected from boiled milk.
  • Cream is churned using machines and heated at high temperatures to make normal ghee.
  • Normal Ghee is made in factories which is a Faster process , more industrial process.

Bilona Ghee (Traditional Desi Cow A2 Ghee)

  • Made using traditional bilona (hand-churning) method.
  • First the milk is turned into curd (dahi) → then churned with slow process of two side churning Bilona into makhan (butter) → Now makkhan is slowly heated to make gold rich value ghee.
  • Slow process, mostly done in small batches.

2. Raw Material

Normal Ghee

  • Often made from mixed milk (buffalo + cow).
  • Not always A2 milk.

  • Made from pure A2 milk of indigenous desi cows which do natural grazing and live a stress free life
